ORIENTEERING FOR GIRL SCOUTS

Orienteering Louisville has been a partner with the Girl Scouts of Kentukiana for years, helping promote orienteering to its youth members in Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

ORIENTEERING ACTIVITIES FOR GIRL SCOUTS

OLOU offers events all year that Girl Scouts can participate in throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana - please see our Events page.  GSUSA stipulates that orienteering is age appropriate for Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors.  Please see the following GSUSA literature for more information:

ORIENTEERING USA SKILL LEVEL PATCHES

The GSUSA discontinued the Finding Your Way badge, but that doesn't mean your Scouts can't learn and do orienteering and still be recognized.  Orienteering USA has a four-stage skills program with a corresponding patch for each level.

Each level consists of a number of requirements to complete in three categories:
1. Concept requirements require you to learn concepts related to orienteering and then
explain them to someone to show that you understand.
2. Skill requirements require you to show that you can perform a specific skill that is
related to the sport of orienteering.
3. Application requirements require you to participate in the sport of orienteering by
completing courses, reviewing your performance, and helping at events.

The requirements are listed on this document.
