Posted on Friday, November 13th

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.  SORRY, WALK-INS ON-SITE ARE NOT ALLOWED.

We are ending off our Fall Forest Series with our very popular night orienteering event.  We are offering a 2-hour Score-O and a beginner friendly White Course that is good for families and Scout groups.  All controls will have a reflector on them that will illuminate 75'-150' away when shined on by a headlamp or flashlight.

COURSES OFFERED:

WHITE (beginner) - point to point course in the main part of the park

2-HOUR SCORE-O - find as many controls as you can in 2 hours.  Harder to find controls are worth more points.  There is a penalty for coming back after the 2-hours that is a deduction of points per minute late.

FINGERSTICK NOTE: If you own a fingerstick, it needs to be model SI-9 (#1000000-1999999) or higher that can store 50 controls.  If you have a model SI-8 (#2000000 - 2999999) or lower (stores 30 controls), please indicate that you need a loaner fingerstick in the registration.

TIMES (all EST):

5:30 PM - 6:00 PM - Free Beginners Clinic - limited to 9 persons - please register for the clinic on the registration page.

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM - There are 5 start windows that you can choose from on the registration page.  The exact time of your start time in that window will be emailed to you on Friday, November 13th after 7:00 PM.  These will be, at minimum, in one minute increments.  We will do our best to honor the window that you requested.  Preference will be given to those in the order that they registered.  Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your start time to collect your map and fingerstick.  This is to help space participants out to comply with the conditions of our permit from Kentucky State Parks.  This set-up will be typical for our events from here on out during COVID-19.

"I missed the registration deadline, can I still register?"  If there are still time slots available, please email orienteeringlouisville@gmail.com.  The cost for registering after the cut-off is $20.00 with no member discount and must be paid in advance through PayPal.

"I'm just going to show up Saturday night without pre-registering.  Cool?"  No, not really.  You disregarded our important note at the top of the page that says WALK-INS ON-SITE ARE NOT ALLOWED.  But there is always that one person, and IF you are that person and IF we have an extra map around and IF we have a free time slot, the cost is $40.00 and must be paid through PayPal onsite.  You will need to show your meet director your phone showing that it went through.

Note about PayPal: If you don't have a PayPal account, please use the "Pay with Debit or Credit Card" under the PayPal sign-in window to pay directly with a credit card.  You won't have to sign up for Paypal.

If you are orienteering with someone else in a "team" - please note it in the TEAM SECTION of the registration to help the registrar match you with the other person(s).

WHAT TO BRING:

- Headlamp or flashlight with fresh batteries

- Back-up light highly recommended

- Compass (we won't have loaners available)

- Watch

- Emergency whistle (use three long blasts to indicate you are injured)

- Water (there won't be any water or food provided)

- Comfortable outdoor shoes and clothing that can get potentially dirty

- A change of clothes, socks and shoes are recommended for after the event as the evening dew will probably set-in

We are required to follow the conditions outlined below per our application for the permit with:
